The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) scheduled for Monday has been adjourned until Wednesday as the ruling and opposition parties failed to reach an understanding in a scam with the alleged involvement of Home Minister Ramesh.
The meeting of the Lower House could not convene at the stipulated time at 3:35 PM on Monday, resulting in the postponement until Wednesday, 1:00 pm, according to the Parliament Secretariat.
The HoR failed to meet after a consensus could not be reached between the opposition parties and the ruling parties to resume the house session. The opposition parties, including the main opposition, have been obstructing the house for the past few days, demanding resignation from the Home Minister and formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate the visa scam to pave the way for it.
According to Nepali Congress sources, Despite the green signal given by CPN-Maoist Centre to start the HoR session, the meeting could not resume due to the pressure from RSP. The opposition parties have been obstructing the HoR since May 27 demanding Home Minister’s resignation over the visa scam. However, a senior leader of NC has indicated that the House would resume on Wednesday as an understanding might be reached between the Nepali Congress and the opposition parties on the visa scam during their proposed meeting on Tuesday.
