A total of 395 individuals have successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest during the ongoing spring climbing season as of May 20. Among them, 153 are climbers with official permits, 235 are Sherpa support staff, and 7 are from rope-fixing teams.
Moreover, a total of 135 climbers successfully reached the summit of Mt Everest on Sunday, May 18, according to Nepal’s Department of Tourism. This milestone marks a significant moment in the ongoing 2025 spring climbing season.
The Everest climbing season in spring 2025 considered as mid-April to the end of May. However, the main window for summit attempts is in early to mid-May.
Despite the achievements, this year’s Everest season has not been without tragedy. According to the Department of Tourism, at least 4 deaths have been recorded so far in this season, spring 2025. The deceased include climbers from various nationalities, with causes ranging from altitude sickness to exhaustion and exposure. Rescue teams have been active on the mountain, working tirelessly to assist those in distress.
This year, a total of 468 individuals from 47 teams have received climbing permits for Everest. Including Everest, permits have been issued to 1,168 climbers from 127 teams for 27 different mountains this season.
