In a collaborative effort to promote inclusivity and capacity building, the Nepal Business and Disability Network (NBDN) organized a Resume Writing Workshop for Persons with Disability. The event was held in partnership with Ability Manch, the Disability Human Rights Promotion Society (DHRPS), and Merojob, with support from the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office.

The event aimed to equip individuals with disabilities with the knowledge and tools necessary to craft compelling resumes, helping them effectively market their skills in today’s competitive job market, according to a press release. It marked a significant step towards inclusive employment practices in Nepal. The workshop commenced with opening remarks by Krishna Shah, Executive Director of Global Compact Nepal, who underscored the importance of creating platforms that empower marginalized communities to participate in the workforce with confidence and dignity.

The session was facilitated by Ms. Sajeena Gurung, HR Specialist at Merojob, a member company of Global Compact Nepal. With her expertise in human resources and recruitment, Ms. Gurung led an engaging and interactive session that demystified the art of resume writing. Participants were actively involved throughout the workshop, engaging in hands-on resume writing exercises and receiving personalized feedback. They were also encouraged to present their resumes, fostering confidence in professional self-expression. The session concluded with closing remarks from Ms. Bhawana Majhi, Advocacy and Programme Development Officer at the DHRPS. She underlined the importance of continued collaboration among stakeholders to promote inclusive employment practices and reaffirmed DHRPS’s commitment to empowering persons with disabilities through advocacy, capacity building, and skills-based initiatives.
