The major ruling alliance Nepali Congress is not happy with Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli’s working style and treatment to the largest party in the Parliament, leading to speculations that the present dispensation will not last for longer period.

A meeting of former office bearers of the Nepali Congress held at the residence of Gopalman Shrestha, the former Vice President of the party on Sunday, has raised serious objection to PM Oli’s recent remarks that the current government couldn’t perform well because of the Nepali Congress.

Oli had the other day said that his party needs majority seats in the next election, as the ruling alliance Nepali Congress didn’t allow it to function in a smooth manner. Those attending the meeting at the residence Gopal Man included senior leaders Bimalendra Nidhi, Prakash Man Singh, Krishna Sitaula, Shashanka Koirala and Prakash Sharan Mahat.

They also expressed reservation to Oli’s remarks that he will hand over the Prime Minister’s chair to Sher Bahadur Deuba in a ‘golden plate’ after a year and half as per their tacit understanding.

“It is our right to assume the government leadership for the remaining fifty percent term, and we don’t need the blessings from PM Oli,” said the Nepali Congress sources quoting one of the senior leaders of the party, who spoke at the meeting.

The same voice was echoed during the Parliamentary Party meeting of the party held on Saturday. The NC Lawmakers had also raised objection to PM Oli’s remarks that NC was obstructing the government to perform better.

The government’s negative attitude towards the NC leaders was another concern they raised. The NC leadership pointed out that while taking action in the name of corruption, the government deliberately targeted NC leaders while protecting their own party leaders, pointed out a senior leader of the party.

It is learnt that less budge is being allocated at the constituencies, where Nepali Congress has won seats, said a NC leader in condition of anonymity.

The senior leaders of the Nepali Congress mainly focused on the forthcoming general convention of the party. They stressed on the need to conclude the issue relating to distribution of active membership so that the next convention could be held on time, they pointed out.
