President of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) Chandra Prasad Dhakal on Sunday demanded the government to allow Indian tourists to carry up to Indian rupees equivalent to US dollar 5,000, up from IRs. 25,000 being under the existing rule.
As per the current provision Indian tourists are allowed to carry only up to IRs. 25,000, which he said is insufficient if we are to promote Indian tourists in Nepal. When there is a provision to carry US dollar 5,000 for those who use flights to visit Nepal, why not same provision be applicable for the Indian tourists visiting by land route? Dhakal asked during a pre-budget interaction between the office bearers of FNCCI and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel organized in Kathmandu on Sunday.
US dollar 5,000 is equivalent to around IRs. 425,000.
He also advised the government to build good infrastructure facilities along Nepal-India border area for the promotion of tourism in the country. He also asked the government to create conducive environment such as adopting consistent policy and introducing single umbrella tax rule to attract both domestic as well as foreign investors in the country.
