Derogative remarks by pro-monarchists bring Surakshya to limelight

Actress Surakshya Panta has become the talk of the town these days, specially, after she has been targeted by pro-monarchists in social media after she made some remarks in a Television interview. In response to a question she said, “Hridayendra, the grandson of ex-King Gyanendra, should join acting field.” “He is handsome and many girls have become his fan, so we welcome him in the film world.”

As her answer didn’t satisfy those, who are making efforts to bring the former monarch back to the throne, they became very angry, which is natural. However, the derogatory language and sub-standard words they used to attack her in social media was really disturbing.

However, there were comments from her fans and supporters, who consider her as a bold straight-forward actress. They appreciated her for expressing her words in support of the Constitution and the democratic republic system. The way she responded to the question in the television interview suggests that she is not only a good actress but also a politically matured and conscious citizen.

April 12 was the first day of her newly released film Khel. Although many of her critics warned to boycott the film the first day’s response in the box office was normally good. The verbal attack against Surakshya by the pro-monarchists citing her remarks in the television interview may boost her popularity in the film world as many people have shown sympathy to her in this situation.
