Cementing federal republic is shared responsibility: PM Oli

Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli has called all to move ahead by following democratic procedure and system honouring the spirit and norms of federal democratic republic constitution formed through the long sacrifice and struggle of the people. Delivering a special address in the provincial assembly in Dhangadhi Municipality of Western Nepal, Prime Minister Oli expressed surprise over the statement given by ex-King Gyanendra on democracy day and added being emotional doesn’t help build the nation.

The former monarch has said that “time has come for him to take up responsibility to build the nation and to bring about national unity.”

Prime Minister Oli also made it clear that the present constitution is not gifted by anyone but written by the people’s representatives and promulgated through the constituent assembly.

Protecting and nurturing constitution and federal republic is a shared responsibility, he pointed out.

PM Oli utilized the moment to comment further, “There were rumours that the former king would be brought back to the rule by directing him into Narayanhiti Palace”

“Does anyone become a ruler once he/she is seated in a chair? Doesn’t he/she need people’s mandate?” He wondered and added, “President Ramchandra Paudel is elected as the Head of the State. Can anyone placed in a chair become the head of the state?”

PM Oli thanked all political parties for they had stood together against such a conspiracy.
