Seven people including an Indian arrested from a Church on charges of fraud

Police have arrested seven people from Kailali district of Far-West Nepal including the coordinator of a church for organizing a prayer and cheating people in the disguise of curing their disease. Among those arrested includes Karan BK, the coordinator of Anugrah Nepali Church situated in Tikapur area of Kailali district, according to sources.

According to Assistant Chief District Officer, Kiran Joshi of Kailali district, they have been arrested on charges of defrauding different people and amassing more than NRs. 600,000 from them.

THey have been arrested following allegations that the organizers collected money under the pretext of providing treatment during the prayer meeting held in Tikapur on March 5 and 6.

The police have so far returned money to around two dozen victims. There are many victims whose money is yet to be returned, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Nabin Raja Budhathoki at the Area Police Office.

Among those arrested is one Indian national named Bajinder Singh, confirmed Joshi. During the meeting, Indian national Singh, was found performing exorcism rituals under the pretext of treating people with disabilities.

After arresting them the police handed over them to the District Administration Office, Kailali for initiating legal action.
