Nepal Buildcon Int’l Expo lured huge number of visitors

The 10th Nepal Buildcon International Exhibition was organized at Bhrikutimandap from Thursday February 20 which was concluded on Sunday 23rd February. The expo was organized with an objective of providing information about new technologies of construction sector.     

Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transport Devendra Dahal inaugurated the expo. On the occasion, he stressed the need of determining the priorities of development construction works in the country. ”Making the country prosperous and constructing the necessary roads in order to take local products in urban areas are in country’s priority”, he said, sharing that the government has been carrying out activities to end the situation of depending on a single country for import of goods.     

Around 150 companies from Nepal and other countries participated in the exhibition showcasing their products and services related to building and construction.

Construction materials, construction machinery, prefab structures, UPVC windows machinery, UPVC profile, doors and windows, roofing materials, space saving and space widening partitions, architecture hardware, bathroom fittings, pipe, tiles and sanitary wares on display in the expo. However, at glance, there were mainly modern technology based products good for larger infrastructure constructions and expensive articles for residential and commercial construction. Some low cost housing solutions displayed attracted a large number of visitors. Likewise, the consulting companies who offer services of constructing residences were also center of attraction in the exhibition.

A low cost tiny house on display

However, local technology based products and services were not included in the exhibition menu. Only a few products were appearing to be aligned with climate change efforts as well. Those who look for low cost housing solutions with local materials and technology consider that the effectiveness of the exhibition would have been higher if included weather safe small houses safe from earthquake and fire for the low income people living in remote and rural locations. They actually look for construction materials and technology with features such as minimum risk of loss and damage and also reconstruction possible to carry out within short time. 

Lumbini Ceramics (Laminar Tiles) was the title sponsor of the exhibition while Flybird was the sponsor.Likewsie, Pearl Precision was the cosponsor. Federation of Contractors’ Association Nepal, Society of Consulting Architectural and Engineering Firms, Society of Nepalese Architects and Interior Designers Association of Nepal have supported this exhibition.

Media Space Solutions Pvt Ltd and Futurex Trade and Events Pvt Ltd have jointly organized the four-day expo.
