Arzu Deuba meets Jaishankar and discusses bilateral cooperation

Foreign Minister of Nepal Arzu Rana Deuba met External Affairs Minister of India S. Jaishankar in Muscat, the capital of Oman on Sunday. During the bilateral meeting they discussed bilateral relations between Nepal and India, mutual interest, concerns and various aspects of mutual benefit, according to Foreign Minister Deuba’s secretariat. Deuba and Jaishankar have reached Muscat to attend the 8th Conference of the Indian Ocean.

“The talks between them focused mainly on bilateral meetings between two countries, exchange of visits and mutual collaboration.”

They also discussed about the recently concluded commerce secretary level talks in Kathmandu and energy meeting concluded in New Delhi and their progress.

“FM Deuba on the occasion thanked her Indian counterpart for the recently signed energy trade agreement with India that enabled Nepal to export hydropower to India and Bangladesh via India.”

They also dwelt on the progress in the recent trade, transit and energy development fronts between the two countries.

They also discussed about moving forward the Pancheshwor Multipurpose Project as the main technical aspects of the project has already been resolved. FM Deuba also expressed her desire to work together with India for the common interest of the two countries in the coming days as well because Nepal accords high importance to its relations with India,” according to the Deuba’s secretariat.
