Nepali carrot and beetroot exported to Germany

Carrots and beetroot produced in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-15 Shreepur in the district have started to be exported to Germany. It is reported that 100 tons of beetroot planted in 12 bags and 150 tons of carrots have started to be exported to Germany.     

According to Chandra Prasad Adhikari, President of the District Agrarian Association Chitwan, since two years the carrot and beetroot produced in the metropolis have been sent abroad by ‘The Arganik Valley’ organization. He said that with the aim of promoting local production and encouraging farmers, agricultural produce is being exported by obtaining certification from the international level.     

According to Adhikari this year the product is being prepared to be sent from February 27. Stating that 20 bighas here have been recognized as agronomic area, he said, “Out of 12 bighas, 60 percent area has been planted with carrot and 40 percent with beetroot.
