Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Paudel has said that the external indicators of the national economy has been positive though, the internal indicator are not up to the expectation.

He also assured that all the dues of the construction entrepreneurs will be cleared if they submit applications fulfilling all necessary conditions. Most of the dues of the construction sector has been cleared upto the last year, he added. Finance Minister Paudel was speaking as chief guest at an interaction programme organized by Female Economic Journalists Association (FEJA) in Kathmandu on the occasion of its second anniversary on Sunday.

The government is committed to resolve the problems facing the economic sector through policy reforms and necessary ordinances have already been introduced for the purpose, he pointed out. The government is working towards raising the confidence level of the private sector and boos their morale, he maintained. A large number of people from rural areas of the country migrated to the urban area during the decade long Maoist insurgency causing devastating effect on the rural economy, pointed out president of FEJA Sharmila Thakuri presenting a paper on the theme “Economy: Policy and Practices.”

“Although women are considered as the major labour fores working in agriculture sector and they account for 70 percent of household works, their contribution to the GDP is not recognized,” pointed out Prof. Dr. Kusum Shakya commenting on the paper.
