Meanwhile, Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli has called a meeting of the senior leaders of the ruling alliance at the Prime Minister’s official residence at Baluwatar Monday evening. The meeting was aimed at discussing the preparations of the ruling parties to face the upcoming Winter Session of the Parliament and enhancing the government’s performances.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Oli, Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, Vice-president of NC Purna Bahadur Khadka, president of Lokatantrik Samajwadi Party Nepal, Mahantha Thakur, president of Nagarik Unmukti Party Ranjita Shrestha, president of Janamat Party C.K. Raut among others.
Addressing the meeting Prime Minister Oli underlined the need to table bills relating to service delivery and to speed up development and construction works of the governmnet with top priority. There is a need to speed up the works relating to formulation of laws by providing sufficient business to the Federal Parliament and to make effective the role of the Parliament Members, he said.
The meeting also dwelt strategy to deal with the opposition parties ahead of the Winter Session of the Parliament.
Prime Minister Oli said that the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML are committed to bring about political stability in the country. Inaugurating the administrative building of Suryavinayak Municipality in Bhaktapur district near the capital city Kathmandu on Monday the Prime Minister claimed that the present government is getting full support from the major partner of the coalition , Nepali Congress. The Prime Minister’s remarks came at a time when the opposition parties are spreading rumour that the present government will not last for a longer period.
Oli also made it clear that the UML will also extend full support to the future government to be formed under the leadership of Nepali Congress. Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML while signing a power sharing deal last year agreed to share the remaining term of the Parliament between Prime Minister Oli and Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba and lead the government turn by turn.
