The winter session of the Federal Parliament, will kick start from Friday, January 31, 2025. The meeting with the Chief Whips and Whips of the major political parties held on Monday at Singha Durbar under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, has prepared the schedule for the entire month of Magh upto Mid-February.
Talking to the media persons after the meeting, Mahesh Bartaula, the Chief Whip of the ruling party CPN (UML), informed that the agenda to be discussed in the winter session of the Parliament has been finalized.
According to Bartaula, at the beginning of the first day of the Parliament, the Prime Minister and the top leaders of the parties representing in the Parliament will address the session. On the same day, various ordinances brought by the government will be tabled in the Parliament.
“The Prime Minister scheduled to address the first day of the Parliament session. After that, the initial agenda of the top leaders of all political parties, including the leader of the opposition party, addressing the session has been fixed,” informed Chief Whip Bartaula.
According to Chief Whip of Nepali Congress Shyam Kumar Ghimire the agenda of the meeting of the Parliament till mid-February has been prepared and it has been agreed to proceed ahead accordingly. In subsequent meetings, the ordinances submitted to the Parliament will be presented for decision.
The agenda prepared in Monday’s meeting will be approved by the Business Advisory Committee meeting on Tuesday. Chief Whip Bartaula informed that there is an agreement between the ruling party and the main opposition party to pass important bills and existing legislation to make the upcoming session effective.
Bartaula said the government is committed to enhancing the efficiency of the Parliament and making it constructive and active.
The meeting was also attended by Chief Whip of CPN (Maoist Centre) Hitraj Pandey and Whip of Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Nisha Dangi.
