Indian Embassy observes Hindi Diwas

Indian embassy on Friday, January 10, 2025 organized a prograrmme in Kathmandu to observe World Hindi Day. On the occasion Geetanjali Tripathi, first secretary political, read out the message delivered by Prime Minister Narendra modi on the World Hindi Day. She also underscored the contributions made by Kabir, Surdas, Tulsidas, Nirala, Panta and many others who wrote poems and songs that helped in popularizing Hindi language worldwide.

The people of India has considered Nepali as their own language and the people of Nepal have also given Hindi a place in their hearts, she pointed out.

Hindi is understood among a large number of Nepalese people and it has served as a bond of friendship between Nepal and India, remarked Tripathi. A host of speakers who spoke on the occasion shed light on the importance of Hindi language in today’s world. On the occasion, students from different schools of Kathmandu presented dance, songs and recited poems. The programe was attended by a large number of people including litterateurs, intellectuals, students, diplomats and journalists.

Hindi is spoken mainly in the southern plains of Nepal and most of the people of other urban areas including Kathmandu also understand Hindi language.
