The ousted leader of CPN-UML Bhim Rawal is considering to form a new political party. He has already started consultations with the likeminded people with regards to opening of a new political party, sources close to Rawal said.

Rawal will form a non-communist party, which is acceptable to all including those quitting the Nepali Congress, said the sources. Rawal has the long experience of working with the largest communist party for more than four decades.

Former minister Rawal disclosed his idea of forming a new party to Tara Joshi, member of the Sudur Paschim Provincial Assembly and Karna Malla, Vice-president of Nepali Congress (BP), sources said. Senior leader Rawal was recently removed from the ruling CPN-UML from the ordinary membership of the party, after he had differences with party chairperson and Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli.

Rawal had been known as a rival leader of the UML for quite some time. However, despite serious differences with the leadership, he did not quit the UML when Madhav Nepal split the party and formed a new one.

Leader Rawal will embark on a tour of the nation, before formally announcing the new party, according to the sources close to him. Rawal is planning to organize a press conference in Kathmandu on coming Wednesday, to make public the reasons behind quitting the UML and his disclose his future plans.

Removal of Rawal from the UML will certainly weaken the party’s position in the Sucur Paschim province, point out observers.
