Himalaya Airlines operated a special, diplomatic flight for the official visit of Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Sharma led 39 member delegation to China. The PM is leading a high-level delegation, to Beijing, the capital city of the People’s Republic of China from December 2 – 5, 2024.
President of the airlines Zhou Enyong was on board to welcome PM Oli and the team. Vice President-Administration, Vijay Shrestha was also present on the occasion to bid farewell to the Delegation.
The entourage is scheduled to return to Nepal from Beijing on December 5, 2024, by Himalaya’s Airbus 319 – 9N-AJK.
After the flight, Shrestha remarked “It is a great honor for us to be given this opportunity to serve the nation by operating special flight for the official travel of the Head of the Government. We are thankful to the Government of Nepal that we had such opportunities of conducting special flights for the Head of the Government and high dignitaries of the country in past also. We also want to recollect operating a humanitarian flight to Kabul, some time ago, at the request of the Government of Nepal. Himalaya Airlines (H9) received an international award for being the “Leading New International Airlines in South Asia” in its very first year of operation at the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2017. In 2020, it received its first ISO 9001:2015 QMS certification showing its competence in aircraft maintenance and engineering services. On December 29, 2021, H9 became the first airline in Nepal to achieve ISO 9001:2015 QMS certification for “Providing Air Transport for Travelling Passengers and Freight, including Aviation Related Training Services”. The certification highlights H9’s commitment to quality and its dedication to high performance work practices. On December 28, 2023, H9 became the first and the only airline in Nepal to be certified as an IOSA Operator and registered as an IATA member airline.
Starting September 2021, H9 introduced Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), a life-saving device on board all its fleet. With this, H9 stands to be the first ever and the only Nepalese airlines to carry AEDs on board.
