Kritipur mayoral poll hitting up: Dr. Baniya promises holistic development and preservation of art and culture

For the elected post of Mayor of Kirtipur Municipality in Bagmati Province, 20 candidates have filed their nomination. Out of the total candidates 11 have registered their names as independent. The by-election is taking place for the mayoral post in Kirtipur Municipality as Mayor Rajkumar Nakarmi passed away in July 2024.

The local level by-election is scheduled to be held on December 1.

According to the election office in Kirtipur, Prof. Dr Shiva Sharan Maharjan from CPN (Maoist Center), Dr. Surendra Manandhar from CPN (UML) and Krishna Man Dangol from Nepali Congress filed their candidacy for the mayoral post of the municipality.

Similarly, Dil Kumar Maharjan of Nepal Samajwadi Party, Shrikrishna Maharjan of Nepal Worker and Peasant Party, Dhruba Maharjan of Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Keshav Shrestha of Janamat Party have also filed their candidacy.

Dr. Navarath Baniya, Rajman Maharjan, Ramkrishna Maharjan, Mim Maharjan, Prem Bahadur Maharjan, Dinesh Kumar Adhikari, Naresh Shrestha, Dharma Ratna Manandhar, Ananda Maharjan, Nareshraj Pandey and Kabi Kumar Maharjan have filed nomination as independent candidates.

Out of partisan and independent candidates, Dr. Navarath Baniya appears attracting the Kirtipur residents so as he had been successful in gathering strength to be elected.

The Kirtipur local and Nepalbhasa speaking education expert and social worker has a clear vision for the development of Kirtipur and preservation of art and culture of the glorious municipality as he has in depth knowledge on the present problems, fixing them and restore its own glory and prosperity.

He opined that Kirtipur is now looking for a party less and honest person as a mayor to lead it. So as he believes the entire Kirtipur municipality residents will chose him as a right person as Mayor of the historically important settlement, educational hub and developing as a highly preferred residential area in the Kathmandu Valley.
