Lumbini Lions has officially appointed noted actor Rajesh Hamal as their brand ambassador for the upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL). The announcement was made on Monday at a press conference in Kathmandu.
With a remarkable career spanning decades in the Nepali film industry, Rajesh Hamal is renowned for his powerful dialogue delivery and action on screen, as well as his intellect and personality off-screen. His extraordinary contributions to Nepali cinema have earned him the title of ‘Mahanayak’ of the Nepali Film Industry. He is going to make a motivational impact also in the field of Nepali sports having joined Lumbini Lions as a brand ambassador.
Upon being appointed as the brand ambassador, Hamal shared his thoughts, saying, “I am proud to be associated with Lumbini Lions. Personally, I am quite inspired by the commitment of Lumbini Lions not just towards NPL but also towards promoting cricket game in general. Through this partnership, I am super excited to be playing my role in promoting Lumbini Lions and Nepali cricket.”
Welcoming Hamal as the brand ambassador, Ishwar GC, Chairman of Lumbini Lions, expressed, “We are thrilled to bring the ‘Lion’ of the film industry into Lumbini Lions. This new announcement by Lumbini Lions is expected to bring fresh enthusiasm and energy to the franchise as well as Nepali sports. Nepal Premier League (NPL) is set to run from November 30 to December 21. The 2024 Nepal Premier League (NPL) will be the inaugural season of the Nepal Premier League, a franchise Twenty20 (T20) cricket league in Nepal. Organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the league will feature 8 teams representing various regions of Nepal. The tournament will commence on 30 November 2024 and conclude with the final match on 21 December 2024.
The 2024 NPL will follow a round-robin format, with each team playing seven matches, after which the top teams will advance to a playoff stage. In total, 32 matches will be played, covering both the round-robin and playoff stages. The league aims to elevate Nepal’s presence in the global T20 cricket landscape, offering a platform for both local and international players to showcase their talents, thereby contributing to the growth of cricket in Nepal.
