The United Nations Day was observed in the premises of Nepal Army Headquarters in Kathmandu on Thursday by organizing a special programme. Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli was the chief guest at the programme hosted by Nepal Amy chief Gen. Ashok Raj Sigdel.
Speaking on the occasion Prime Minister Oli appreciated the initiative taken by the United Nations in maintaining world peace and managing natural disaster and the Nepal Army’s supporting role in the endeavours. “Nepal is committed to maintain world peace, sustainable development and preservation of environment in a world that is increasingly becoming unstable and uncertain,” Oli pointed out.
In a different context the Prime Minister remarked, “Nepal is ready to collaborate with the world community in mitigating climate change effects and sustainability.”
On the occasion Nepal Army presented various bands, cultural shows and march past.
Nepal is the largest contributor to deploy its troupes across the globe under UN peace mission with deploying more than 171,000 peacekeepers in the past 52 years. Nepal currently deploys 6,141 peacekeepers in 14 countries across the world.
