Nepal’s President Ramchandra Paudel has conferred the newly appointed Chief of the Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel with the insignia of the post of Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) of the Nepali Army.
The Chief of the Army was awarded the emblem of the post amid a special ceremony organized at the Office of President Shital Niwas on Monday, according to a notice issued by the President’s Office. President Paudel also administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed army chief Sigdel. On August 28, President Paudel appointed Sigdel to the post of Army Chief, effective from September 9. The outgoing Chief of Army Staff Prabhu Ram Sharma had been on a month-long leave since August 8 as per the mandatory retirement. Sigdel will serve as Chief of Army Staff for three years.
