A programme was organized in Kathmandu on Saturday, September 9, 2024 to mark the 40th anniversary of veteran democratic leader and one of the founders of Nepali Congress. Senior leader of Nepali Congress Arjun Narsingh K.C., Minister for Tourism Badri Pandey, former minister Navaraj Subedi, Nepali Congress leader Lokesh Dhakal and senior journalist Purushottam Dahal, who spoke on the occasion shed light on the valuable contributions made by late Upadhyaya in his decades long political career for the establishment and consolidation of democracy in the country.
Nepali Congress should not forget the contributions made by late Upadhyaya in strengthening democracy and pursuing pragmatic foreign policy adopted by him, they pointed out. At the programme presided over by Dr. Ramesh Kumar Dhungel, president of Surya Prasad Smriti Pratisthan, the organizer of the programme, journalist Dahal read out the message sent by Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Nepali Congress will never forget the contributions made by late Upadhyaya, Deuba said adding, the party will give due honour to the veteran democratic leader, who is regarded as one of the four pillars of the Nepali Congress. B.P. Koirala, Suvarna Shumsher and Ganesh Man Singh are the other three pillars of the party.
