College youths as SDG Ambassadors

Kalpa Academy, in collaboration with Kantipur City College and ICA Nepal, trained 31 youths as Sustainability Development Goals (SDG) Ambassadors for inspiring people in communities to develop practical sense of sustainability culture in life, profession and business.

The initiative, a non-curricular scheme, sensitized youths about water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), Social Artistry, global citizenship education (GCED) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). It was a participatory programme which enabled College youths to rediscover and develop their personality, capacity, talent and skills and use them for the betterment of society, nature and humanity.

Sharing his experience during the training, SDG Ambassador Milan Shrestha noted: the initiative has made him more skilled and more committed to serve the society, nature and humanity.

At the SDG Ambassador graduation programme on Friday 5th July 2024, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Shakti Bahadur Basnet appreciated the initiative and said it would help the youths to contribute to developing a culture of sustainability in development works through preserving nature and offering employment opportunities.

Kalpa Chairman Dr. Pralhad Karki who presided over the programme was of the view that such initiative would help develop skills and attitude among youths to serve the society in a sustainable way.

KCC Principal Raju Kattel, who also spoke on the occasion, observed the SDG Ambassador programme has inspired youths to learn practical measures to serve communities in a sustainable way and make the best of their education.

Kalpa Director Er. Ravi Khanal who presided over the SDG Ambassador initiative said the training provided youths with life-skills through a blend of WASH, GCED, Social Artistry and SDG. ICA Chairman Dr.Tatwa  Prasad Timsina, UN Nepal SDG Advisor Subash Nepal, Prof. R. K. Regmee, National Campaing for Sustainable development Nepal Executive Director Daya Sagar Shrestha, and Agriculture Development expert Ratna Karki were among those who were present at the SDG graduation function.
