The police have arrested 15 people for protesting in front of the south gate of Singha Durbar on Monday, demanding the protection of the lives of Nepalis recruited in the Russian army.
Those who were protesting in front of the federal government secretariat complex were arrested as they were holding demonstration in the prohibited area, according to the protestors.
Kritu Bhandari, leader of awareness campaign activists was among those arrested by the police in connection with the protest. “15 people including 10 men and five women who staged demonstration in front of the Singha Durbar have been arrested,” he said.
According to the police, those who were taken into custody were kept at the police circle Singha Durbar. They protested demanding the return of bodies of those who died in course of the Russia-Ukraine war fighting on behalf the Russian army, and searching for those who have lost contact and the rescue of stranded Nepalis from Russia.
