S. Korea will continue to work closely with Govt. and private sector of Nepal: Ambassador Park

Nepal Chamber Expo 2024, organized by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Embassy of Republic of Korea concluded at Bhrikutimandap Pavilion on March 11, 2024.

The expo featured a dedicated Korea Pavilion at the Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall, showcasing products and services from 9 prominent Korean companies: Samsung, NWEDC/KOEN, Mandumo (HiMO), Korean Air, SY Panel Pvt. Ltd, SY Bazzar Pvt. Ltd, InnoCSR Nepal Pvt. Ltd, Orion, and BTN Ltd (Wang Ramen).

“The platform brought together a diverse range of Korean products and services, providing Nepalese consumers and officials with a comprehensive view of the offerings from Korea, Nepal’s important and long-standing trade and investment partner,” according to a Korean Embassy press release.

KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) and KOIMA (Korean Importers Association) were among the major participating companies in the expo that provided valuable information about their respective agencies and bringing together Korean and Nepalese entrepreneurs. “KOTRA and KOIMA’s participation is expected to provide an opportunity for Nepalese enterprises and made-in-Nepal products to explore the potential in the Korean market, enhancing the reciprocal benefits of deepening economic cooperation between the two countries,” reads the press release.

The participation by South Korea as the focus country in the Nepal Chamber Expo – 2024 coincided with the historic 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Nepal.

The theme of this year’s Expo, ‘Bringing Trade and Business Together: Global Opportunities’ is particularly significant as Nepal is at a crucial juncture in actively promoting economic development in the face of global challenges and opportunities,” remarked Korean ambassador to Nepal Park Tae Young in his opening remarks.

“The KOREA Pavilion representing Korea’s businesses in Nepal offered a unique opportunity for networking with Nepal’s many companies, providing invaluable channels for building partnerships and exploring collaboration opportunities in Nepal.”

The participation of well-known Korean companies such as Samsung, KOEN (Korea South-East Power co.), the Korean Air was the top attraction for the Nepalese visitors during the expo.

“As we mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between our two countries this year, this event served as a testament to the enduring strength of our bilateral relations and the immense potential for further economic cooperation. Over the past 50 years, our countries have made significant outcomes in fostering economic partnership, facilitating trade, and encouraging investment flows,” ambassador Park remarked in his statement issued at the opening adding “however, there is still much untapped potential waiting to be explored.”

“As we embark on the next chapter of our bilateral relations, let us seize the opportunities before us and strive to build a future of shared prosperity and cooperation,” he noted.

“On the occasion of observing the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties, I, as Korean Ambassador, will continue to work closely with the Nepal Government and entrepreneurs to promote such economic cooperation between the two countries,” said ambassador Park.
