Sneha’s Care is organizing ‘Kathmandu Vegan Festival 2024’ on March 2 at Utpala Cafe in Bouddha with a view to promoting plant-based foods and minimizing animal cruelty in Nepal.

The Kathmandu Vegan Festival aims to bring together individuals, business people, and communities to explore the diverse aspects of veganism,” said Sneha during a press conference on Wednesday.

“The purpose of this event is to promote plant-based dishes and also to promote the vegan lifestyle.”

In this festival, the organization has arranged to place stalls for vegan restaurants and vendors of vegan products to exhibit plant-based cuisine and materials for distribution and sale, she informed. The festival will also feature various recreational activities with live music, dance performances, documentary screenings, competitive games for children, etc. Sneha’s Care was established in Bhaisepati, Lalitpur District in 2015 to carry out animal welfare activities. It has been doing various works in the field of animal welfare for the past eight years.

The organization has provided shelter to unattended and stray animals including dogs, cows, buffaloes and pigs in Chobhar area.

“Consumption of a plant-based diet is beneficial for human health as well as the environment and animal

welfare,” she argues. With its commitment to animal welfare and reducing animal cruelty, the organization is conducting classes on plant-based diet and animal welfare and humanity in schools. It has also conducted training for school canteen cooks on vegan dishes, and plant-based diets for women at the community level, and local community so that they can have ideas about plant based food items. “Right to raise voice against animal cruelty is not only the responsibility of animal activists but a matter of concern for all of us,” argued Sneha during the media briefing.
