Former national cricket captain of Nepal Sandeep Lamichhane has been sentenced to prison for eight years on a rape case, along with a fine of Rs. 300,000 and a sum of Rs. 200,000 compensation for the victim.
A bench of Justice Shishir Raj Dhakal in the Kathmandu District Court issued the verdict, according to Kathmandu District Court sources.
As per the verdict, Lamichhane has been fined Rs. 300,000 and he has to provide a sum of Rs. 200,000 as compensation for the victim. The Kathmandu District Court, on December 29 fouknd cricketer Lamichhane guilty in the rape case. An eighteen year old girl had accused Lamichhane of raping her in a hotel room in August 2022.
