STC to open 9 subsidized shops in Kathmandu

Sugar available at Rs. 97 per kg

Ahead of great festivals Dashain, Tihar and Chhath Salt Trading Corporation has started selling sugar from its outlets. The price of sugar has been fixed at Rs. 97 per kg, according to sources at the STC. This has given a big relief to consumers who were compelled to pay up to Rs. 130 per kg in the local market of Kathmandu.

STC is opening subsidized outlets for the consumers ahead of Vijaya Dashami festival starting from coming Sunday, October 8, 2023. There will be nine subsidized shops in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts. A subsidized outlet will also be opened for consumers at the head office of STC at Kalimati.

Consumers will be offered mainly sugar and salt at subsidized rates in these outlets. Besides sugar and salt, other daily necessity items such s rice, beaten rice, floor, tea, edible oil, lentil,spices, ghee and STC gas will be available in these outlets.
