Kathmandu – Valley View School once again transformed its premises into a hub of creativity and artistic expression by hosting its second annual Literary Fest and Art Exhibition on August 25, 2023, at the initiative of the Department of English. This remarkable event showcased the extraordinary talents of students in grades 1 through 10 and brought together art enthusiasts, and educators in a celebration of literature and art.
The seminar halls (both Junior and Senior School) of Valley View School became a vibrant canvas, adorned with an array of literary masterpieces and captivating artworks. The walls and tables served as a backdrop for the remarkable talents of the school’s young writers.It was not only the display of creativity, had also other events like bookmark exchange to symbolize the importance of reading, DEAR time (Drop Everything And Read) to form reading habit and reading for young to learn to care and love the younger ones.
Esteemed guest Dr. Devraj Paneru, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, he commended the school for fostering an environment that encourages young minds to explore their creative potential. Dr. Paneru’s words of wisdom resonated with the audience, emphasizing the importance of art and literature in shaping well-rounded individuals.
Valley View School’s commitment to nurturing creativity and talent was evident throughout the event. The literary works displayed a depth of thought and maturity that belied the students’ ages, while the art pieces showcased exceptional craftsmanship and creativity.
Teachers, guests and students were unanimous in their praise for the event. Parartha Parajuli, a student of a grade 10, remarked, “The literary fest and art exhibition at Valley View School are a testament to the incredible talents our school. It’s heartening to see them shine.”
Principal Subash Chandra Bhandari expressed his pride in the students’ accomplishments, stating, “In order to bring the students closer to literature and its universal appeal, valley view school organized this event.”He also conceptualized to enhance the literary fest in the upcoming years by inviting different renowned literary figures and by making a space for Nepali literature as well. He also stated that Valley View school does not only focus on bookish knowledge but also Extra curriculum activities.
Indeed, the significance of literature in a student’s personality development cannot be overstated. These creative outlets foster imagination, critical thinking, and communication skills. They encourage students to explore their emotions, perspectives, and the world around them. Moreover, art and literature provide a platform for self-expression, boosting self-confidence and self-esteem.
As the Literary Fest and Art Exhibition concluded, Valley View School reaffirmed its dedication to nurturing creativity and providing students with opportunities to shine.
