Seven pilgrims including six Indian nationals were killed when a passenger bus heading towards Janakpur from Kathmandu fell into a river at Jeetpur Sub-metropolitan City along East-West Highway on Thursday.
Six Indian nationals and one Nepali were killed in the bus accident, according to the police. The six Indian nationals who died in the incident have been identified as Bahadur Singh, Mira Devi Singh, Baijanti Devi, Shrikant Devi, Rajindar Chaturvedi and Satyavati Yadav, the police said. Bijaya Lal Pandit of Mahottari is the only Nepali killed in the accident.
Similarly, three Nepalese and 14 Indian nationals sustained injuries in the incident. They are undergoing treatment at Chure Hospital, Government Hospital Hetauda and Provincial Hospital Janakpur. The pilgrims were returning to their home after visiting Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, said the police. There were altogether 24 passengers in the ill fated bus.
