Nepal and the Netherlands discussed investment opportunities and economic collaboration on Thursday. Chandra Prasad Dhakal, president of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) andMarten Van Den Berg, ambassador of the Netherlands for Nepal, India and Bhutan during a meeting decided to explore possibilities of investment opportunities and foster collaboration for Nepal’s economic development.
During the meeting held at FNCCI secretariat, Teku, Dhakal underscored the immense potential forinvestment inNepal across various sectors such as tourism, energy, manufacturing, ICT and agriculture. Nepal is an attractive investment destination, citing ongoing efforts in infrastructure development, digital transformation of the economy, promotion of agro-based industries and overall industrial growth, pointed out Dhakal.
Underscoring the importance of skill development for Nepal Dhakal sought Netherland’s assistance for training Nepali job seekers in the areas of semi-skilled and high skilled jobs. He also stressed on the need for establishing vibrant business linkages between the private sectors of Nepal and the Netherlands.
Responding positively to FNCCI’s call ambassador Berg expressed his commitment to facilitating Dutch investment in Nepal by actively engaging with the private sector in the Netherlands. He assured the Nepalese business community to encourage Dutch businesses to explore the vast potential of the Nepalese market, taking into consideration the favourable investment climate and emerging opportunities.
He also expressed commitment to consult with the economic units of the embassy in New Delhi, with a view to extending support to startups and other business ventures in Nepal.
