Ex- President Bhandari urges to resolve Kalapani issue through diplomacy

Former Nepal President Bidya Devi Bhandari has reiterated that “Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura are the integral part of Nepal.” Speaking at a programme Bhandari said, Nepal should resolve the issue the border with India through diplomatic.

President Bhandari said this while releasing a book titled “Nepalese Territory Limpiyadhura” authored by Achyut Gautam and Surendra K.C. As Nepal has incorporated Kalapani, Lipulek and Limiyadhura in its constitution as inseparable territories of the country through adopting a new map, it has spread new consciousness in historical context, she pointed out.

In the recent past, then K.P. Oli led government has adopted a new map through the Parliament with the inclusion of Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura as Nepal’s territories “We have to recall the historical perspective of the source of the Mahakali river and it has become a matter of bilateral diplomatic issue,” underscored Bhandari. “We need to add new dimension of trust in our relations with the two neighbours,” she pointed out.

Nepal should be sensitive towards the national interest and security of the friendly countries and it is natural to expect reciprocity in our national interest and security from the friendly countries, she said.
