Nepal Rastra Bank organized the ‘Digital Payment Promotion Walkathon-2023’ program in Kathmandu on Saturday. The central bank has organized the walkathon with the aim of promoting digital payment transactions. NRB Governor Mahaprasad Adhikari while inaugurating the walkathon program called upon all concerned parties to promote and encourage digital payment transactions. The morning procession started from Darbarmarg and reached Bhadrakali, Sahidgate, Jamal and again passed through Darbarmarg, Narayanhiti Museum, Narayanchaur, Police Naxal, Bhatbhateni and finally concluded at the bank premises at Baluwatar.
The event saw participation of more than 600 people including Deputy Governor Dr. Neelam Dhungana Timsina, chief executive officer of banks and financial institutions, representatives of remittance companies, payment system operators and payment service providers, along with senior officials and employees of NRB. The Bank has, while announcing the monetary policy of the financial year 2079-80, mentioned that this year will be celebrated as ‘Digital Payment Promotion Year’.
