Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal “Prachanda” on Sunday appointed Nepali Congress central committee member Narayan Prakash (NP) Saud as the Minister for Foreign Affairs. President Ram Chandra Poudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed Foreign Affairs Minister Saud amidst a function at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Sunday afternoon.
Similarly, Prime Minister Prachanda has appointed Chanda Chapai from CNP-Unified Socialist as the Minister of State for the Physical Infrastructure and Transport during the function at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
She has taken the oath of office and secrecy before Prime Minister Prachanda at the President’s Office.
Prime Minister Prachanda is paying an official visit to India, as his first foreign entourage after assuming the top executive post for the third time. Foreign Minister Saud’s appointment comes ahead of the Prime Minister’s proposed India visit and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has started preparation for the maiden visit of the Prime Minister to the southern neighbour.
Meanwhile India’s Minister for External Affairs S. Jaishankar has congratulated N.P. Saud of Nepal upon his appointment as the Foreign Minister. “Congratulate H.E. N. P. Saud on his appointment as the Foreign Minister of Nepal,” twitted Jaishankar. “Look forwards to working together to strengthen our multifaceted partnership. Best wishes for success in your new role,” he wrote in the twitter.
