Global Money Week (GMW) 2023 kicked off on Monday with the slogan “Plan your money, plant your future.” This is the eleventh edition of GMW being observed every year worldwide in March. On the occasion Nepal Rastra Bank, the central bank of Nepal, organized a financial awareness generating programme in Lalitpur district on Narcg 20, the first day of the GMW with the participation of more than one hundred students from different colleges.
Governor of NRB, Maha Prasad Adhikari inaugurated the programme organized in collaboration with Nepal Insurance Authority, Nepal Securities Board, Department of Cooperatives and National Banking Institute Ltd, according to a press release issued by NRB.
Most of us have the tendency of spending more and saving less, pointed out Governor Adhikari. Our saving tendency is weak if we compare it with the national income, he added. We need to develop the habit of saving as saving will open ways for investment and income, he pointed out. Governor Adhikari called the students to acquire information on banking, capital market and insurance, and to disseminate knowledge and skill they learnt to the family and the society. Chairman of Nepal Security Board, Ramesh Kumar Hamal, chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority Surya Prasad Silwal and deputy governors of NRB Neelam Dhungana Timsina and Bam Bahadur Mishra were also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, acting executive director of the governor’s office Kiran Pundit delivering welcome speech shed light on the importance and relevance of Global Money Week. Various programmes are being organized across the country till March 26 to mark the Global Money Week.
