The Yeti Airlines aircraft was used by King Fisher during 2016

After Sunday’s crash of the Yeti Airlines aircraft which was carrying 68 passengers including 15 foreigners and four crew members, Nepal government formed a 5 member probe committee which is supposed to submit its report within 45 days. The Nepal government also instructed the concerned bodies to make it mandatory to carry out safety checking before flying any aircraft. However, to fly domestic aircrafts without conducting safety tests. However, Sudarshan Bartaula, spokesperson for Yeti Airlines said that they had conducted the safety checking as regular process before flying the aircraft.

The crashed ATR – 72 aircraft with 72 passenger capacity was manufactured by France and is 16 year old, according to Yeti Airlines sources. However, Yeti Airlines acquired the aircraft only in 2019. Prior to this, the aircraft was used by India’s Kingfisher Airlines since 2006 for five years and then it was purchased by Nok Air.

Air disaster has occurred occasionally in Nepal due to its unpredictable weather condition and mountainous landscape.
