‘Diplomatic Diary’(Kutnitik Dairy) the book authored by former Nepali Ambassador to China Rajeshowr Acharya consisting of various topics related to Nepal-China relations was released the other day amidst a function in Kathmandu.
Former Foreign Minister Bhesh Bahadur Thapa launched the book at a ceremony organized on Saturday. During his stay in China as an envoy, Acharya has clearly included in his work the issues he witnessed, experienced and collected in the memory related to bilateral meetings, discussions, cooperation and agreements related to the Nepal-China relations.
The book covers various topics such as diplomatic travel, experience and understanding of China, Mao’s rise and influence, one China policy, interests in Kalapani and transit treaty, late King Birendra’s visit to China, Chinese Prime Minister Zhu Rongji’s visit to Nepal and economic diplomacy and many more. He had served as the Nepalese ambassador to China from October 18, 1998 to January 29, 2003. It is mentioned that former ambassador Acharya has dedicated his book to King Birendra and the first elected Prime Minister of Nepal BP Koirala. The book includes some topics and facts related to Mongolia and North Korea as well. During his four years in Beijing, Acharya got the opportunity to work as a representative of two kings and five governments. During the book release ceremony, ex- Foreign Minister Dr. Thapa underlined the need to work for our national interest while maintaining balance with the neighbours.
