Commerce Dept. seize 8,000 Asian Paints’ 8,000 cans

The government authorities have seized 8,000 cans of substandard Asian Paints, a subsidiary of Indian company, worth Rs 12 million. The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DoCSCP), seized the wall paints stored in the company’s warehouses located in Satungal of Kathmandu and Balkumari of Lalitpur district, according to officials at the Department.

The department raided the warehouses based on the complaints filed by a consumer at the Department, said the Department sources. The date expired products were found relabeled with tags of the new dates with higher prices. The Department seized the cans as they were about to be dispatched to the market for sale.
