Maiyadevi Shrestha passes away at 93

Senior politician Maiyadevi Shrestha passed away this morning. She was 93. The Nepali Congress senior leader Shrestha was suffering from pneumonia and undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College Hospital. Born in Bandipur of Tanahun on 5th Asoj 1985 B.S., Maiyadevi remained unmarried.

Her foster son Tanknath Poudel informed the media that former MP Shrestha passed away Sunday morning at the hospital.

Shrestha was the patron of Maiyadevi Kanya Campus in Chiwan. A philanthropist, Shrestha has donated more than one billion rupees to various social causes. President of Nepali Congress Chitwan, Rajeshwar Khanal, said that

Her mortal remains would be kept at the Congress party office in Kamalnagar and Maiyadevi Kanya Campus for some time before it will be taken for cremation at Devghat. Meanwhile, the NC central office issuing a condolence statement to mourn her demise said that all the programs slated for Sunday was postponed.
