Achham landslide claims 14 lives in Far-West Nepal

At least 17 people have died when landslide hit Achham district in Sudurpaschim Province situated in Far-West Nepal in the past 24 hours. The Sudurpaschim Province has been badly affected by the landslides and floods caused by the incessant rainfall for the last couple of days. According to acting Chief District Officer of the district, Dipesh Rijal, said that 17 persons were confirmed dead in the landslides that occurred in different parts of the district. Similarly, 11 people, who sustained injuries in the incidents were rescued and airlifted to Surkhet district for treatment. Three persons have gone missing in the landslide, according to the official.    

Nepal Police personnel were mobilized for the rescue of the injured ones and conduct search for the missing ones in Achham landslides and floods. The number of casualties may increase, added the police.

The Bhimdutta Highway connecting seven districts in the Sudurpaschim Province has been disrupted due to the natural disaster. Communication service has also been affected in Achham due to the incidents.
