Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China has arrived in Kathmandu on Monday leading a 67 member delegation.
Chinese leader Li is on a four-day official visit to Nepal at the invitation of Agni Prasad Sapkota, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nepal, according to a press release issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Speaker Sapkota and senior officials of the Federal Parliament and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs accorded warm welcome to Chairman Li upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International by a special flight.
During his stay in Kathmandu Li will be busy in high level meetings besides holding bilateral talks with Speaker of the House of Representatives Sapkota, according to Foreign Ministry sources. He will call on President of Nepal Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and hold separate meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Khadka. He will also hold meetings with former Prime Minister and CPN-UML chairman K.P. Sharama Oli and former Prime Minister and chairman of CPN-Maoist Centre Pushpakamal Dahal “Prachanda.”
