The Election Commission has launched a voter list updating programme for November 20, when the House of Representatives and Province Assembly elections are scheduled to take place.
On August 28, the EC published collected details of voters at the ward level. Thereafter, the designated official to register voters list will allocate time to make claims and objections regarding the electoral roll. Under this, things like correction of errors in details on the electoral roll, removal of names from the voters’ list, change of address and polling stations and removal of duplicate names will take place.
The concerned voter will be given certain time for clarification when a complaint about fake details has been filed. The concerned authorities have been asked to complete the campaign and send the details to the Commission within September 9. The EC will publish the final electoral roll on its website on September 16 after approving the list.
