CPN-Unified Socialist chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal has cautioned that pro-monarchist forces are trying to raise their head to drag the country towards regression and we need to be very careful about that. “We are against any move towards regression,” he asserted.
We have formed this alliance (five party alliances) with the objective of fighting against regression as efforts were made to weaken democracy by dissolving the House of Representatives twice, remarked former Prime Minister Nepal. “At this moment our main responsibility is to safeguard democracy and are committed for good governance and fighting against corruption,” Nepal said interacting with editors and senior journalists in Kathmandu on Sunday.
In response to a question he said that his party will make alliance with those forces who have ideological proximity. He termed the recently concluded local level elections fought through making seat adjustment among the five ruling parties a success,
though we experienced some weaknesses and drawbacks, which will be corrected in the days ahead.
He underlined the need for taking the ruling alliance beyond the next Parliamentary elections as well. We need to develop coalition culture and should work together making alliance among like minded parties as there is little chance of forming a majority government in the future given the present mixed electoral system. Nepalese people are capable of running the government through collaboration and partnership, he pointed out.
