As the vote counting continues in Kathmandu Metropolitan City, independent mayoral candidate Balen Shah has secured 47,752 votes till 7.30 pm Monday. Shah is followed by Sirjana Singh of Nepali Congress, who secured 28,815 votes while another candidate Keshav Sthapit (belonging to CPN-UML) has secured 27,977 votes. Rapper and engineer by profession, Balen is set to become victorious in the election.
Suman Sayami, another independent mayoral candidate has secured fourth position in the vote counting. Sunita Dangol, former Miss Newa, belonging to CPN-UML is set to get elected as the next Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu. She is leading with a huge margin to her rivals in the election.
However, Nepali Congress candidates are winning the majority of the ward chairmen posts in Kathmandu during the local elections.
