Election Commission seeks clarification from Sthapit on sexual harassment issue

The Election Commission (EC) has asked clarification from Keshav Sthapit, the mayoral candidate of Kathmandu Metropolitan City on behalf of CPN-UML, for his indecent behavior in a public platform.

The commission has sought clarification on the statement made by Sthapit targeting a teen-aged questioner when asked about his past activities of sexual harassment linked to Me too movement.

Irate UML’s mayoral candidate had harassed Bhavana Raut, a participant of an interaction program and said that though she looked like a nice lady her mouth was disgusting. He also asked, what will happen if he publicized the girl’s name in news media as having involved in the prostitution. The EC has asked Sthapit to submit his clarification on the issue relating to sexual harassment within three days.
