The Prime Minister’s Agriculture Modernization Project will be implemented at all local levels of Jumla, So far, the program has been implemented in four local levels of Chandannath Municipality, Tatopani Village Municipality, Guthichaur and Patarasi. According to Ganga Pokhrel, Senior Agriculture Development Officer at the Apple Super zone Office, after many years of efforts, the apple superzone programme has now been implemented in all the municipalities of the district. A letter signed by Vaikuntha Adhikari, director of the Prime Minister’s Agriculture Modernization Project Implementation Unit Khumaltar, reached in Jumla on Wednesday.
Director Adhikari said that based on the demand from the local level and technical report, work has been done to add programs in the missing areas of Jumla including Tila, Hima, Sinja and Kankasundari.
He said that the program would be fully implemented from the next fiscal year onwards except for some activities due to the late decision. The idea of the project is to develop modern, commercial, sustainable and self-reliant agricultural sector transformed from agro-based economy to agro-industry.
According to the office, work is underway to set up an apple super zone project implementation unit in Jumla. Similarly, the project has been working to provide specialized technology to the farmers of the areas where the Super zone program has been implemented and to provide subsidy programs for the purpose of constructing specialized areas of major agricultural sectors, increasing the prices of exportable agricultural commodities and taking them to competitive markets .
According to the office after the establishment of the super zone, agricultural technology, high-tech nursery, fencing, irrigation, plant subsidy and other works are being carried out.
