The Election Commission (EC) has informed that there will be around 17.9 million voters in the local-level election scheduled for May 13. As per the constitutional arrangement, people above the age of 18 are eligible to cast vote in the election.
Stating that there were over 15.4 million voters in the election held in 2017, the EC said that the number of voters has increased by 2.5 million in the past five years.
As per the existing constitutional and legal arrangements, preparation of final voters’ list, management of election materials and registration of political parties for election purposes were carried out by EC. The commission has already approved the election schedule, election observation and monitoring management, ballot and ballot paper management, registration of nomination papers of candidates, election symbols, votings, counting of votes and announcement of poll results.
