Lets not further delay to endorse MCC: BR Bhattarai

Babu Ram Bhattarai, former Prime Minister and federal Chairman of Janata Samajbadi Party, has urged the political parties in power not to further delay the USD 500 million grant assistance under the Millenium Corporate Challenge  (MCC) of the United States of America from being tabled in the Parliament for endorsement.

“MCC should be ratified through consensus without further delay and the general public needs to be made aware about it,” former PM Bhattarai wrote on his Twitter account on Saturday.

Bhattarai also stressed the need to keep members of the ruling alliance intact and the coalition must be continued.

At the time when the MCC has become a big political issue in the country, the Nepali Congress and Janata Samajbadi Party want the compact to be ratified by parliament while the other members of the ruling coalition, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist) and Rastriya Janamorcha Party are hesitating to endorse the compact.
