Only 40 contestants will be able to participate in the grand finale of the Miss World pageant, which was postponed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic. According to the list released by Miss World on Saturday, only 40 contestants, including 25 who have already reached the semi-finals and have been selected by the judges, will be eligible to participate in the grand finale.
After the final show of the 70th Miss World edition on December 16, 2021 in San Juan, Puerto Rico was cancelled, a total of 23 contestants tested positive for COVID-19 on the day of the pageant; including Miss World India 2021 Manasa Varanasi. The Indian beauty queen is the roommate of Miss World Indonesia 2021 Carla Yules, who was the first case, among the contestants, confirmed to have tested positive for COVID-19.
Miss Nepal Namrata Shrestha, 22 who has already entered the last 30 from the Head to Head Challenge, is also among the 40 contestants. It is learnt that Namrata was chosen only from the head to head challenge.
Namrata had defeated 20 contestants to win the coveted title in the beauty pageant held in December 2020. During the final event, 24-year-old Supriya Shrestha of Kathmandu became the first runner-up grabbing the Miss Nepal Earth title while 24-year-old Sandhya Sharma of Mahottari became the second runner up winning the title of Miss Nepal International.
