A week long Summer Ski Festival is scheduled to take place on February 10-18 in Gandaki Province. The festival being organized in Mardi Mountain region at the initiative of Sustainable Himalayan Fund aims to promote ski tourism in Nepal. The festival is called the Great Himalayan Ski Tour.
This is the eighth edition of the ski festival in Mardi. Earlier, the festival was held in Manaslu, Kalinchok and other places, according to Ram Bahadur Thapa, chairperson of the organization.
According to the organizer, an insurance package worth Rs 220,000 has been arranged for all participants of the festival. A budget of Rs 1.6 million has been allocated for the festival. “This ski festival will add a new dimension to the promotion of adventure tourism in Nepal,” said Sudeep Gautam, Secretary of Nepal Mountaineering Association, Gandaki Province.
